Raquel holds a Law degree from Lisbon's University. After several years working in legal and European Union affairs in Brussels, she moved on to work full-time in sports management, particularly in the field of media operations. Throughout her career, she has been collaborating with various Organising Committees, International Federations and external entities, covering a variety of sports and spanning a wide array of global events.

Raquel has held managerial positions and made significant contributions to the planning and execution of numerous sporting events, including six Summer and Winter Olympic Games, ten World Athletics Championships as well as Commonwealth Games and Pan-American Games.

She frequently partners with International Federations such as World Athletics (formerly known as IAAF), European Athletics, the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG), besides prominent football bodies like UEFA and FIFA.
